TWPMS Case Study VORTEX

TWPMS has four years experience of writing copy for VORTEX, the official magazine for the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft programme. Seizing an opportunity to reduce costs and streamline the publication process, Eurofighter GmbH took the decision to outsource turn-key production of the magazine in early 2000.

TWPMS was successful in its bid, publishing the first edition of VORTEX in June 2000. The magazine is published quarterly. It is read by British, German, Italian and Spanish personnel of the Eurofighter GmbH consortium, as well as by people throughout the European aerospace industry and in the air forces of the four partner nations and potential export countries around the globe.

Editorial content is decided through a two-way communication process between TWPMS and Eurofighter GmbH. Once approved by Eurofighter GmbH's Communications Vice President, TWPMS's team then proceed to gather news and write features. Working with the communication departments of Alenia Aerospazio, BAE SYSTEMS and EADS, TWPMS also sends reporters out to air shows, corporate events and industry seminars.

After copy has been signed off by the client, the layout process begins. Colour proofs are provided to the client and once approved, VORTEX is sent for publishing. TWPMS manages the distribution list in close contact with Eurofighter GmbH, with updated lists then forwarded to an external distribution service.
